1) Hungry Like The Wolf lyrics
Darken the city night is awire steam in the subway earth is afire
Do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do
Woman you want me give me a sign and catch my breathing even closer behind
Do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do
In touch with the ground I'm on the hunt I'm after you
Smell like I sound I'm lost in a crowd and I'm hungry like the wolf
Straddle the line in discord and rhyme I'm on the hunt I'm after you
Mouth is alive with juices like whine and I'm hungry like the wolf
Stalked in the forest too close to hide I'll be upon you by the moonlight side
Do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do
High blood drumming on your skin it's so tight you feel my heat I'm just a moment behind
Do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do
In touch with the ground I'm on the hunt I'm after you
Scent and a sound I'm lost and I'm found and I'm hungry like the wolf
Strut on a line it's discord and rhyme I howl and I whine I'm after you
Mouth is alive all running inside and I'm hungry like the wolf
Hungry like the wolf, hungry like the wolf, hungry like the wolf
Burning the ground I break from the crowd I'm on the hunt I'm after you
I smell like I sound I'm lost and I'm found and I'm hungry like the wolf
Strut on a line it's dicord and rhyme I'm on the hunt I'm after you
Mouth is alive with juices like wine and I'm hungry like the wolf
Burning the ground I break from the crowd I'm on the hunt I'm after you
Scent and a sound I'm lost and I'm found and I'm hungry like the wolf
Strut on a line it's discord and rhyme I howl and I whine I'm after you
Mouth is alive all running inside and I'm hungry like the wolf.
*I think this is a SIMILE, and I think it means hes on the hunt for his love and hes so close he can smell her, and he wants to find his love so bad that he is hungry for her love like a wolf is hungry for his food.
*I got this Song from (http://www.elyrics.net/read/d/duran-duran-lyrics/hungry-like-the-wolf-lyrics.html)
2) "My rhymes are like shot clocks,
interstate cops
and blood clots,
my point is your flow gets stopped."
- Talib Kweli on Hater Players, Mos Def and Talib Kweli Are Blackstar
*I think this SIMILE poem is about the person's freestyle "flow" and how good he is he stops everyones rhyme.
*I found this freestyle rap on (http://www.flocabulary.com/hiphopmetaphors.html)
3) Author: ROS SHRAPNEL, Australia
Poem I WISH I WERE...
I WISH I WERE…
I wish I were a diamond so vividly defined,
Beveled edges, multi faceted, colours entwined,
Behold my supreme beauty, superbly inclined,
And within your strong hands I’d dwell reclined.
I wish I were the sunset so I could greet you,
A sunrise, spectacular scenery shades variegated through,
And introduce you to my friend, the ocean so blue,
And dangle for a while before slumbering true.
I wish I were a heartbeat pulsating within your chest,
Then I would see you at your worse, see you at your best,
Travelling in all directions north, south, east and west,
Would you beat for me? May I beat for you? This is my only request.
I wish I were Cupid’s bow and arrow directed at your heart,
And infect your veins with consuming love always to impart,
But alas you remain impenetrable of a guarded rampart,
As you prepare to journey your expedition, alone you depart.
By Ros Shrapnel
*This is a METAPHOR poem. I believe its about a woman and how she wants to be as a person. I got this poem from (http://www.voicesnet.org/displayonepoem.aspx?poemid=134417)
4) The Cat & The Fiddle
Hey diddle, Diddle,
The cat and the fiddle,
The cow jumped over the moon;
The little dog laughed
To see such sport,
And the dish ran away with the spoon.
By Mother Goose
*This poem is PERSONIFICATION. It gives the cat a human role as playing a fiddle, cows dont jump over the moon, really I think this nursery ryhme is about people and how the feel and what they feel like doing on a beautiful night.
*I found this nursery rhyme on (http://library.thinkquest.org/J0112392/personificationclassics.html)

Shocking Experiment
The article i choose to read and discuss was the one about the shocking experiments. This article was about a psychologist named Stanley Milgram. Milgram did an experiment that dealt with well-intentioned people who agreed to give what seemed to be increasingly painful electric shocks to another person for a learning experiment. The person in the other room was called the "Learner", and the "Learner" was actually an actor and was seated out of sight in another room, pretending to be zapped. The person giving the shocks usually began with what they thought were 15 volt shocks, and worked upward in 15-volt increments, as the experimenter instructed. At 75 volts, the “Learner” in the next room began grunting in apparent pain. At 150 volts the "Learner" would cry out things such as "Stop, Let me out of here".
Dominic Packer was an author of the news paper, and he found out at about 150 volts a third of the people did not continue. The people giving the shocks stopped because they felt responsible for the other persons pain.
I think its a good experiment to see how far people will test the limit. I think it really makes people think, and feel the pain from the people "receiving the shocks". There are times that I watch a show called Law and Order. The last show that I watched of Law and Order their show was actually about this guy who is a master mind of experiments and at the end he captures one of the "main people" in the show, takes her to a place he has set up, puts her in a chair that looks like an electirc chair, than lures her partner in and shows/tells him what is going to happen to her. He has a device set up to make it "Look" like shes going to get shocked if he dont leave him alone. The master mind guy turns out the light and starts turning the knob on a so called volts knob. The ladys partner just sits there and listens to her scream and holler, until the man stops. Finally at the end he reveals his sceret. She was getting shocked at all, when he turned the knob on the volt thing there was a recorder that sounded like she was screaming. I just thought that was neat to watch and then to actually read about the real experiments that happened. I don't know if I could sit there and go through with any of that. It would be hard to sit there and think your shocking someone, putting them in pain, and not feel what their

Living Out of Cars in LA

Darlene Knoll, 53, reclines in the sleeping area of the battered 1978 motor home where she lives in Los Angeles with five dogs after losing her job and home five years ago.
The article was about people that cant afford living in houses so they are living in RVs, Vans, Cars, etc. They get called names but other residents, and have to look for places to park so they wont get harrassed by the police. In LA, and many other cities, it is illegal to live in vehicals on public streets. The law enforcement is getting very strick and they are breaking down the law on residents who are living in their vechicals. "A survey of 3,230 homeless people last year in Los Angeles County found nearly 7%living in vehicles, according to the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority." People are complaining about noise, smell and other things that are going on, and the complaints keep pouring in. Some places such as Santa Barbara, allows vehicles to stay from 7 p.m to 7 a.m. in church and city parking lots. Some people say that cant afford the gas prices to be riding around so they have to find somewhere they can park without having to worry about the cops, or other residents bothering them.
In my opinion I think the police are wrong for bothering them. They need to put them selfs in their shoes. I also think what they need to do since so many people are having financial problems they need to build a parking place, sort of like you have a camp ground, build a ground for people who live in their vehicals then they will all be in one place together and maybe they could help each other out with their financial problems. I have been there before, having to stay in my car, not because I didnt have any where to go, but because I wanted to be with my man, and no one wanted us to be together and at the moment we couldnt afford are own place so we chose to stay in the car together. I am now not in that situation because it was getting to hard to handle being in that little car all the time so we are now living in a house. Its rough going through that type of situation but people have their problems, and different people go through it different ways.

Flip-Flop Flaws #1
Exacerbated- to embitter the feelings of (a person); irritate, exasperate
Plantar Fasciitis- an inflammation of the connective tissue that links the
toes to the heel bone
Ubiquitous- existing or being everywhere at the same time

The article I chose was Flip-Flop Flaws. The Flip-Flops are becoming more popular espically during the summer/spring time seasons. Flip-Flops may not be the best choice sometimes for health reasons. If you do wear flip-flops try not to wear them all the time, switch them up often, don't break them in, when you break your flip-flops in its probably time for you to throw them away and get a new pair. According to a new study, the ubiquitous summer shoe may be bad for your ankles, feet and lower back. Flip-flops can cause problem usually associated with a fondness for Manolos and Jimmy Choos.
Justin Shroyer is a student in biomechanics at Auburn and Dr. Wendi Weimar is the director of Auburn's biomechanics laboratory. They both have noticed that most often when the students or teachers come back from vacation they are often complaining of pain in their feet, ankles or lower backs due to the lack of arch in the flip-flops. Shroyer said he found out that people who wear flip-flops take shorter steps which then causes stress to the body and then could result in a higher risk of muscle and join pain in the legs. Besides ankles, feet, and back problems toes can be another issue. Shroyer said "When you wear flip-flops, you kind of scrunch your toes to keep the flip-flop on your foot".
My opinion of the article made me realize that flip-flops due cause a lot of problems with the lower part of your body. I would have to agree with the article because if you are wearing flip-flops all the time your causing a lot of stress on your body. If I can reduce the stress on my body by wearing Sneakers I will. Your body indulges in to much stress as it is.
